The Pacific Dogwood is blooming now. It's one of my favorite trees that lights up the forest in the spring. This painting didn't turn out anything like I had in mind when I started (style-wise) Sometimes the left side of my brain refuses to sit in the back seat, next time the right side gets to drive!

Fire and Ice
Going for the drama. The saddlebred is showing here, even without these amazing eyes the breed tends to have a "fire breathing" presence about them. I'm thinking this one might make a rather spectacular large painting. Meantime I am putting him into my new book of small paintings coming out soon.

Sunshine Beach
And sunny it was over Easter weekend! A welcome warmth, a low tide to explore and the Olympics are out, can't get much better than that.

Sandpiper Pirouette
I repainted this from a while back... three was a crowd. I like this version better. Enjoyed a little summer like sunshine the last couple of days... and great tides for exploring the beach. Happy as a sandpiper :)

...They'll grow up together, one more tree planter from Kopachuck Park last weekend. Check out the Kopachuck Trees blog to read a great poem about the replanting project, "In the Muck at Kopachuck".

Up ears and Down
Recent portrait commissions from a family who loves their dogs! These are small paintings (6x6" and 5x5") It's a challenge to keep them fresh and still get a likeness but it's a great way to hone your observational skills. The previous post of the red Aussie called "Courage" also belongs to this family.

Planting Their Future
6x6"acrylic, see DPW for sales information |
I went to the re-planting party at Kopachuck Park yesterday... a bright spot on a rainy day. This is one of the primary organizers getting down and dirty with her grandson. Planting the seeds, literally and figuratively for a new generation of trees and treehuggers! Hooray for actions that resonate more strongly than words :)
