Can You See Me Now?

5x7" acrylic  SOLD
Here is a perfect example of why it's rewarding to do commission work.... this was painted from a client photo and it was so much fun to paint!  I don't know what she thinks yet, but the fun factor makes it worthwhile for me :)  Besides, Domino is a Cocker Spaniel, with coloring called "parti merle"which accounts for the bright blue eyes..... if that wasn't enough, Mr. Domino is a rescue who is now an official therapy dog, how cool is that?  (I know I feel better just lookin' at his photo, let alone getting to snuggle up with him :)

Completed!

"Whose Trees?" SOLD
It's so nice when a painting finds it's way "home"  In fact, I think that's the time when any painting can finally be considered completed.....  when the circles of inspiration, creation and sharing all link together.  This work was dedicated to the trees of Kopachuck Park, It makes me happy that it has resonated with so many people that know the inimitable value of our forest lands.  Happy Birthdays Molly & Don, I hope this painting brings you joy.  Thanks for completing it!

Is It Safe Yet Delilah?

acrylic 6x8" puppy painting SOLD
Meet Humpfrey and Delilah, my niece's new Basset Hound puppies.  At this moment they are not entirely sure it's safe to play with that very BIG dog, RubyDo bounding around.  In another moment they'll decide yes, it might be ok to come out from under Josh's chair.  Off they go, as fast as Basset puppies can while tripping over oversized ears and feet!

the Sales String

6x8" acrylic, see DPW for purchase information
Remember the plastic ponies?  They beat out Barbie every time for me, although I must admit that I noticed their sometimes strange anatomical positions at an early age.... precursor to conducting lameness exams on the real thing I guess :)

Peninsula Youth Orchestra

I enjoy the Peninsula Youth Orchestra performances (and speed sketching in the dark).  It's fun to see the beginning level players, all ages and heights!  The squeeks and screetches turn into real music in an amazingly short time, but you've gotta give those beginning teachers extra credit!  Hard to believe my niece, Dawn Brown, is a senior now and although not entirely focused on music, is prepping for college scholarship performances.

Spring Fling

Anne Knapp is teaching a workshop to the KPMS students on mask making which will be featured at this year's Spring Fling fundraiser for the Artists in Schools program.  I used Anne's mask to design this call for art entries, I'll post the invitation and poster for the event later.  Artist's in Schools is a great arts outreach program for local students, that makes the world a better place in all kinds of ways!  Please consider supporting it by entering your art work and or donating or attending the event.  Check out www.twowaters.org for more information.

Still Waters

Daily Painting, acrylic 6x8"see DPW for sales info.

Winter is more colorful than you might think.  The low, slanting light of late afternoon is called the "golden hour" by plein air artists for good reason.  The dog and I have been loving this extended dry spell, although I must say he is content outside in just about any kind of weather!  (therefore, go I :)

It seems I'm drawn to pattern and complicated images lately.  I wasn't sure about pulling this off, especially in the small size format and on canvas.  I like it better than expected, but the original more than the digital rendition, this might be a tad contrasty.
