Treehugger
This is an odd start to paintings from my recent Puerto Vallarta trip, but we did visit the zoo there. Although it was clean and the animals well cared for and healthy looking I have a hard time imagining their life behind bars. On the other hand I also know that we don't protect and value things we don't have a personal connection with, so I believe the zoo system is a valuable way to experience and learn about exotic species. (not to mention the zoo mandate to help maintain the incredible diversity of life on the planet as we bulldoze them out of existence with our own burgeoning populations) Hopefully the visit to a zoo stimulates an appreciation of the sacrifice of a few to ensure the survival of their brethren in the wild. OK end of rant... this fellow speaks volumes with only a look.
