Apple Tree

I'm painting lots of small, local scenes and my neighbor's farm in preparation for next weekend's Farm Fest activities.

Haida Sunset

Sorry for the glare, I'll have to get a better photo in the AM.  Nothing better than an island sunset!

This is a larger version of a sketch I posted awhile back.

On A Mission

Well I just had to try that silhouette thing again..... and it still wasn't easy!  It's dramatic anyway.  It helps to see a thumbnail version, I think I'll go back and darken the wall, that should help.

Bending the Corner

I thought this would be quick and easy, it wasn't.  :-I  Guess I have to give the horse and rider their due since they were working hard to make a balanced and elegant circle.  She makes it look easy, doesn't she?

Stepping Out

Cabare is a seasoned dressage horse and perfect babysitter for the young punk, Rainier, from last nights posting.  I painted this one on a smooth board with less stroke texture and more blending..... seemed fitting for this more refined, classy looking animal.

Signs of Autumn

This is a plein air painting done today at my friend Jo's on Cherry Cove, what a spot!  We are having the best Washington "indian summer" ever, warm and sunny days, cool and star filled nights. What a great place to live.  I'm so lucky.  :)

Spring Pasture, Ladies in Waiting

I like this better in person than here, it may warrant a bigger version since it's so busy.  I'll get a better photo in the daylight tomorrow.

Fenced In

I haven't painted with watercolor for awhile except for illustrations so thought I'd use up the paint I had out today.  I think I should have started with something simpler :-/

Sea Floor with Bats

This is about as abstract as I get.  The sea floor, and rocks and any solid surface is covered with life in the channel at Burnaby Narrows in the Queen Charlottes.  A perfect spot to kayak but it was a challenge not to tip over while ogling all the colorful sea critters.

Mobbed

This is my neighbor and all her "kids".  It's so great to live right next to a big, old fashioned farm with all kinds of critters.  They are joining the local "FarmFest" open house tour of farms here on the Key Peninsula in early October.  I'll be posting a few more paintings of the goats, chickens, horses, cows, sheep etc. and will be setting up to do some plein air painting at the event.  Should be great fun!

Buffet Line

Oystercatcher checking out what the retreating tide has revealed for dinner. Someday maybe I'll figure out my painting "style" but for now, the loose and textural is pretty much fun. :)  Anybody out there have a preference, comment??

Evening on the Rocks

It's a particularly peaceful time when the last light lingers on the rocks before nightfall.
