BC TideLine

"BC TideLine" 12 x 24, acrylic on canvas

Here is a diversion from my small paintings and animal subjects.  My muse is the vertical tideline that you see in many areas of the central BC coast.  This particular location in our PNW kayakers heaven is an interesting area to try and find camp sites.  A strong bladder and a well marked map are good things to have since elevators are not readily available out here :)  I am pleased with the abstract design.... but most of the credit goes to mother nature who is, after all, the best artist around.

Biker Dude; poised, confidant, in control.  Ahhhhh, youth!  This is a companion painting to "Biker Chick" posted a while back and from the same family photos.  So much fun to paint, one more coming.

Harbor Morning

Sunrise may start quietly but it can be spectacular when it opens up the sky with color.  This is the view from my mom's house in Gig Harbor.  Happy Mother's Day all you moms out there :)

Between the Stirrup and the Ground....

Mercy I Asked, and Mercy I Found.

I've been working on this awhile, inbetween other projects.  It is a work in progress, I can already see some changes to be made, but I'm provisionally happy with it.  Although I like painting portraits, sometimes I just want to do something different, so this is an "illustrative" portrait, the story of my life with horses.  It's a mix of painting and collage with lots of layers.   Each detail brings back many great memories and some life-shaping ones too.

Irish Draught

sold

This handsome fellow is an Irish Draught stallion, Snowford O'Donnell, that is currently standing at Rocky Bay Equine.  He is quite a gentleman, even this time of year when hormones are running high.  I may need to simplify the background but I like the head study.
