I love these maple trees.  I imagine this one a female, dressed in her finest licorice ferns doing her yoga salutation as sunlight penetrates the forest.

Arggggh...?   I know, he has a hard time pulling off the mean scary part, but you have to admit he's got the hairy inscrutable bit down perfectly!  Pirate is a Bouvier des Flanders.

Morning Walk

The sun is just beginning to break through the mist during my morning walk, a welcome start to the day.  Even the trees seem to yawn and stretch up to greet the sky... salutation to the sun.

Here is a perfect example of why it's rewarding to do commission work.... this was painted from a client photo and it was so much fun to paint!  I don't know what she thinks yet, but the fun factor makes it worthwhile for me :)  Besides, Domino is a Cocker Spaniel, with coloring called "parti merle"which accounts for the bright blue eyes..... if that wasn't enough, Mr. Domino is a rescue who is now an official therapy dog, how cool is that?  (I know I feel better just lookin' at his photo, let alone getting to snuggle up with him :)

It's so nice when a painting finds it's way "home"  In fact, I think that's the time when any painting can finally be considered completed.....  when the circles of inspiration, creation and sharing all link together.  This work was dedicated to the trees of Kopachuck Park, It makes me happy that it has resonated with so many people that know the inimitable value of our forest lands.  Happy Birthdays Molly & Don, I hope this painting brings you joy.  Thanks for completing it!
