Portrait of an Artist

I've been following a blog by artist Karin Jurick.  In fact, Karin is a big reason that I started my own art blog.  Besides being a terrific artist, Karin is generously sharing her expertise and inspiration with other artists through the internet.  She gets my "artist hero" award for 2008! This image is the result of Karin's year end challenge.  Each participating artist emailed a photo of themselves to Karin, she then randomly matched them up with another artist and each was to paint the other.  What a great way to network don't you think?  So here is a portrait of someone I don't know anything about except that she is an artist (and she's into blogging on the internet).  Merry Christmas Eve everyone!      Check out Karin's blog http://karinjurik.blogspot.com  and the networking blog called Different Strokes From Different Folks that she created to inspire other artists  http://differentstrokesfromdifferentfolks.blogspot.com

Hi Robin, a beautiful portrait here, and I have to say that I really like your intro and your thoughts on what is art!

Thank you Peggy, Vern and Carol.
Thanks too for checking out my blog. I'm so excited to get comments! Karin has been a great inspiration, hopefully I'll venture further out of my comfort zone in the new year. robin

Robin,
You did a wonderful job with this - I should know, since I recognized MYSELF immediately! :-) Thanks for doing this and I hope you are as pleased with my portrait of you (by the way- great job on the nose! It's right on!!)

Whooo Ha! What fun! I'm glad you like your portrait Cindy. I think it's incredibly difficult to get a real likeness of a person or animal without either meeting them in person or at least knowing something about them so I think Karin's challenge was especially challenging! No doubt about it though, yours is a very cute nose!

You did a great job on me, I'm so excited to see it in person. Thank you!

Very nice portrait, I like the cropping a lot.

Thanks Dominique, the truth is that the photo reference was flat and straight forward like a passport photo so cropping made it more interesting for me to paint.
